Dr. Serra is a Board Certified Maxillofacial Surgeon who specializes in Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He began his career in New York City at Columbia University where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He continued to advance his training by completing a rigorous 4-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington State. His surgical training focused on reconstruction of the facial bones and correction of congenitally acquired skeletal abnormalities. He gained extensive knowledge and experience in correcting the functional and esthetic damage from facial trauma. He moved to Tennessee where he became the director of Advanced Oral Surgery training for general dentists and the served as the Chief of Maxillofacial Surgery at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.
Dr. Serra was selected for the accredited and highly competitive fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery with the internationally recognized surgeon, Dr. John Griffin, Jr. During the fellowship, he became proficient in facial cosmetic surgery by performing over 150 major cosmetic surgeries. He gained additional training and experience honing his skill with noninvasive facial rejuvenation techniques to include laser and chemical skin resurfacing, Botox, Juvederm, Kybella, Pelleve, and Microneedling.
Dr. Serra is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Fellow of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, The American Association of Oral and Maxiollofacial Surgery, The American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
